NSD New Furniture Layouts

I had a great time scrapbooking last night. I carved away 5 hours last night, and got two layouts completed to document 1 story. I am such a slow scrapbooker. Studio Calico had some great challenges going on, and I used 3 of the challenges in my layouts. On the 12 x 12 layout I used a stamp set that I bought 1 year ago and never inked up (Challenge 2) and used a mint, pink, navy, and gold color scheme (Challenge 1) I first started by adhering the strips of patterned paper, stamping in gold and mermaid, and then added the stitching.

The 6 x 12 layout tells the story behind all of the photos. I used Washi tape 3 ways (Challenge 3) on this small layout: as a background, on the photo, and for the triangle shapes. After adhering everything, except the photo, and added splashes of black ink.

Poor Neglected Blog

Oh my poor neglected blog.  It has been so long since I have added an entry, but I have been oh so busy.  I have been uber swamped at work.  I went to CHA and met Cath, Susan Opel, and Maren.  I was start struck, since Cath and Susan recognized my name from my card submission, and totally flaked about having my camera.  Here is a photo my friend Marisa took withe her phone.  I am such a dork!

I finished up my training and ran my second half marathon.  It was a rough one, but I will keep on running and will improve my time.  I ran (with walking/running the last 2 miles) 13.1 mi in 2hr 28mins.  I did sprint in to the finish line pictured below :)  I loved seeing Mike and his family at mile 5 and 12.  It was very encouraging and I like the cheering.

This is a bit more babbley than a usually post and not too crafty, so I thought I would toss in a card I made from scraps after making this scrapbook page using my Documentary Kit from Studio Calico.  duh - I just realized I never posted the scrapbook page, so you get a two-pher. Ha!

I couldn't resist participating in the Caardvark's B-day Challenge, again.  I was inspired by this card sketch at Got Sketch and my scrap pile.  I pulled out a bunch of my lovely advertisement cards from Studio Calico and few other small scraps in my bin and went to town.  I love how the back is distressed and antiquey.  It makes the blue thickers pop!

A Page and a Woot or 2!

The woots first, because I am so excited!!!!!

1. I ran 5 miles today -- yeah! I am working my way to 13mi on May 1. This is a milestone for me, since I haven't run that far since middle school. YIKES.

Now on to the Scrapbook page. I know, I can't believe it either -- I finished a scrapbook page. It has been a while...sometime last year (who knows when though). I made this page during the Scrapbooking weekend with Marisa and Janie. I love this page because I used my Studio Calico kit and an old Heidi Swapp mask I had to have but never used. Plus, I have been collecting mists and have used them once. I need to justify future color purchases : )

Photo Details: This is a picture of my niece at a local park this fall. I just love the look of determination on her face as she is rocking the horse back and forth. She moves so quick, I was lucky to get a photo of her in action.

Strawberry Fields

Happy Labor Day! Hope everyone is enjoying their day off and/or an extra day with loved ones! I landed at O'Hare this morning and had a great time. I will have to share some photos!

I created this 2 page 12 x 12" spread with Janie and Marisa a couple weeks ago using my Studio Calico Over the Rainbow Kit. I thought I would post a little group labor ha! The family picking strawberries on Fathers day in 2005. I made the background using random strips of the cardstock, mounted the photos, and added a little Sassafras extras. I still have to add a little journaling. Maybe a little hidden something with a list of who, what, where, when, and why.

Make a Splash

Two weekends ago I got together with Janie and Marisa and I got a little scrapbooking done. I finished this page using some sassafras goodies and my Studio Calico Over the Rainbow kit. Once I got a subdued background together and had all my fussy cutting done the page and pageling came together nice and easy. This two page spread is a 12 x 12" and a 6 x 12". I love getting a little scrapbooking done and have a few more posts this week.

Little Helper

My niece Ruby loves to help, especially when it comes to cooking. I made this layout using the May kit from Studio Calico. It is stuffed full of Cosmo Cricket goodness. The American Craft thickers were from my stash and matched perfectly!

Early Bird Project and Fun News

I received some Cosmo Cricket Early Bird paper with my Studio Calico kit last month. It was so stinkin' cute I picked up some more coordinating cardstock and chipboard accessories to match. I came up with these fun cards. I used brown as the base and went to town. It was so easy, and came together so quickly that I had a rough time stopping!

Now that you have seen the project. The fun news is that I made Dawn McVey's Spotlight this week (Two weeks in a row!) I couldn't be more ecstatic!

Live Your Bliss

It was a really busy weekend. In between the storms on Friday I went to my fav LSS, Craft Fancy, for their 1 year b-day celebration. I picked up these super fab yellow roses and pearl, swirl bling. I saw them and knew I had to make a card for my Mom's B-day with them. I matched them up with papers and a die cut from my June Studio Calico SCRAPBOOK* kit, did a little distressing to tone down the white and to turn my aquamist into a more vibrant blue, and viola. I did all that late on Sat evening. That sucker didn't stay sealed in the envelope for long, since my mom's b-day was on Sunday. She loved it! And oh how I loved this card, too. It was a nice depart from my typical style....I rarely go vintage.


*Note: I really am supposed to be scrapbooking with these things...I broke down. Too much instant gratification with completing a card.
