Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #5

I am just squeeking this one in before Mr Linky closes. Once again I have to say it....I love this color combo for Dawn McVey's Color Challenge #5! I decided to play with my Scattered Showers set. I order it the day of last month's release from PTI and have yet to have fun with it. I have to use it before I order the new Bird Watching and Additions sets designed by Melissa Bickford. Anywho, for this challenge I decided to make a fun circle patterned in the background using Raspberry Fizz Bitty Dot paper from PTI and Pretty in Pink DSP from Stampin' Up! punched out using different sizes of circle punches. This card came together very easily and believe it without ribbon, buttons, or bling. I can't wait to make more fun stuff with this set!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #4

I love the colors Dawn picks for her color challenges, and this one is no exception. I used her inspiration above to create this card using my new Tea for Two set and some leaves that I had cut out during my last gathering with Marisa and Janie. I placed the dies on the bitty dot aqua mist paper and cut off the danglers. I just love how the Sizzix die coordinates with the tea pot from this set. This card was real quick to put together, and if I do say so myself...I love it.

KWerner Challenge #49

I do have to say I love, love, love this color challenge. The photo and colors were very inspiring. I created a very layered card using patterned paper layered on clear embossed black paper. The floral design is a Basic Grey Chipboard flower/flourish that I adhered and then trimmed the overhangs to fit the card. I then doodled with a black, photo marker to make the flower stand out against the background.

This is my favorite Color Challenge that Kristina has put together. Let me know what you think.

I had a rough time with this challenge. I kept thinking Valentines Day. In the end I decided to go simple with a touch of bling. I added bling to the tulip (from my fav PTI set) and to the brad I wrapped around the end of the ribbon.

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #2

I loved the colors Dawn McVey chose for her Raspberry Suite Color Challenge! The teal, moss and brown color combo is right up my alley, so of course I had to give it a try. I decided to use some patterned paper from my stash and the only stamping is the sentiment, which of course is from the Mega Mixed Messages set. To make the tag I cut out one white and one brown tag using my sizzix. I used sissors to cut out the circle from the white tag (there were perforations - I couldn't free hand it if I tried) and attached it to the center of the brown tag. I really like how this card came out; let me know what you think.

KWerner Challenge #47 - Tulips???

It's time for another Kristina Werner Challenge.....

No, not tulips or flowers for this post...how about mushrooms instead. Granted the mushrooms are actually the top part of the tulips from the Wishing You set from PTI paired with stems. Last night at the PTI bloghop I found out you could make mushrooms with this set, then tonight I saw this color combo, and I knew I had to give the tulip mushrooms a try. Instead of using a smaller tulip top for the base of the mushroom (blog entry here) I hand cut stems from cardstock.

The color combo and my card reminds of these ceramic canisters my mom used to own when I was a kid. They were yellow with a white rim on the lid and base and a few mushrooms for handles...so in the avocado, gold, and orange era of the 70's/80's. This color combo was too fun!!!! I had so much fun I decided I needed to decorate the inside of the card with mushrooms too. Let me know what you think!

KWerner Color Challenge #46

The baby blue, red, and black mixed with shades of pink....what can I say I love these colors! This Kwerner color inspiration just screams PTI's Retro Background. This set is so versatile and definitely has to be the most used stamp set from my collection. I made the background by stamping the stripes with the blue, pinks, red, and black at random intervals and in no particular pattern. I thought this gave the card a more funky vibe. The scalloped edge and patterned paper background is raised off of the black to add a little dimension (this is a little hard to see in the photo).

KWerner Color Challenge #45

This weeks color challenge is to use basic black, basic grey, and whisper white. Kristina's inspiration for this challenge was a black, white, and fun ponytail holder.

I decided to flip through my book of embellishments and found some iron-on velvet flowers from SEI. I have had these for a long stinkin' time. The transfers are from the Winnie's Walls collection, which I bought as soon as it came out, and I have yet to use almost all of the paper and none of the embellishments. The flowers, joyful, and white scallops are all the fuzzy, velvet iron-ons.

I notched the side of the card with my SU! slot punch and tied the polka dot ribbon with a button and embroidery floss (see the view from the inside).

KWerner Color Challenge #43

It is time again for another Kristina Werner Color Challenge. This was a difficult color combo to work with, but I liked the results of my 6 x 3 inch card. I was happy to use Brocade Blue, since I have a large stack and I haven't used that color for about 2 years. I also got a chance to use my new PTI stamps; the puns are so fun! I can't wait for the March release and another order. You can't really tell, but the Squirrel is attached to an aluminum circle tag with acetate in the center.

KWerner Color Challenge #42

I realized today it had been a while since I posted something create, or even made something crafty. So, I vowed to take on the Kristina Werner challenge and get my butt in my craft room. This was a toughy!!! I looked at the More Mustard, Really Rust, and Kiwi Kiss and thought "what the heck am I gonna do with this...these colors are so over-powering together". I took a little inspiration from Randee (see her entry here) and used textured white as my base to help the colors mesh.

I made a fun little easter card using a new Michael's $1 stamp, a SU! rub-on, and some wide, ruffled ribbon that I purchased a year ago when an indi-scrap store was closing : ( I decided to tone down the mustard by watercoloring.

I decided to make my last v-day card for the season using houndstooth transperancy from Teresa Collin's Crush line and a heart punch. It really isn't a v-day card with out a heart image, right? I just love these challenges. They are definitely a creative jump start.

KWerner Color Challenge #40

This is my second color challenge brought to you by Kristina Werner. The colors for this challenge was So Saffron, Taken with Teal, Old Olive, More Mustard and Whipser White. See below for Kristina's inspiration for this challenge.

I love this color combo and decided to pull out some oldies, mostly from Stampin' Up! Everything, except the Copics, are things have had for quite some time and there are a few retired SU! items. Hope you like my creation! These challenges are so addicting; I can't wait for the next one.

Card Swap

I participate in a monthly card swap with co-workers. This month's swap was a color challenge. The colors we had to use were So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Elegant Eggplant, and Almost Amethyst.

This color combo was generated at http://www.scraptitude.com/colorcombo/. This is a great sight to peruse unique color combos, especially when you are drawing a blank.

The base color of this card is So Saffron. I used Elegant Eggplant to stamp the Thanks a Bunch, colored thanks in with Almost Amethyst, and then added a little Certainly Celery colored bling. Hope you like it. It is simple, but I must say this color combo was especially challenging for me. I usually gravitate towards blues and greens. I can't wait to see everyone else's combinations!

KWerner Color Challenge #38

Well this is my first Kristina Werner Challenge...so we'll see. I used one of Stampin' Up!'s retired hostess sets, In the Spotlight and Love from Heidi Swapp. I used masking to layer the flowers on Whisper White cardstock, punched out one of the flowers with a 2" punch and raised it with dimensionals. Of course I had to add a little bling in the center. My card was inspired by this photo posted on Kristina's blog.
